3-Day Tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga

Departing from Fes in the morning, we travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco. Continuing through the cedar forests of Azrou, we may spot Barbary macaques. After a stop in Midelt for lunch, we drive through the scenic Ziz Valley, arriving in Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops. By late afternoon, we reach Merzouga, where we switch to camels for a trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. The night is spent in a desert camp under the stars. The total distance for the day is approximately 460 km (7.5 hours).

After an early wake-up to witness the sunrise over the dunes, we return to Merzouga by camel. After breakfast and a shower, we depart for Rissani, an ancient trading town with a traditional souk. The journey continues through the palm groves of Tinghir before reaching Todra Gorge, where we stop for a walk through the towering canyon. By the afternoon, we proceed to Boumalne Dades, where we explore the Dades Valley and its unique rock formations before spending the night at a hotel. The total distance covered is about 270 km (5 hours).

The day begins with breakfast before driving along the scenic Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We pass through the Valley of Roses, known for its annual rose festival, before arriving in Ouarzazate. Here, we visit the famous Taourirt Kasbah and, if desired, the Atlas Film Studios. The journey continues to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar and one of Morocco’s most famous landmarks. After exploring its winding alleyways, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) before arriving in Marrakech by evening. The total distance for the day is approximately 315 km (6.5 hours).
